Joseph: Mom, remember when we were in Minnesota and dad and I went swimming in that pool outside? And it was so cold then we went in the hot tub and it was so hot?
Me: Yes, though that was in Colorado, not Minnesota.
Joseph: Oh yeah, Colorado! That was so fun.

Joseph: Yah, then after, we went to Minnerado, you remember that?

Me: Joseph, do you want a grilled cheese?
J: No. I’m not going to eat cheese anymore. I don’t want to clog up my arteries.
Me: Do you know where your arteries are?
J: (shrugs) … Here? (Points to left hip.)

Joseph and I were in a shop in Leesburg. He spots a nativity scene. “Mom, we should get this for grandma! She likes God.”

J: Mom, this soup smells like a hotel!
Me: Really?
J: Yeah!
Me: Wait, do you like how a hotel smells?
J: Yes!! Ahhhh!!
Me: Oh, so that’s a compliment?
J: Yes, it’s a compliment. Thanks for making such yummy, good-smelling soup!
