Green Hackers
Annika, explaining… You know Maddie’s two favorite movies? Well one is with that girl and Tuk-Tuk. I forget what it’s called. And you know my teacher’s favorite? She loves the Green Hackers! (The Green Hackers?) Yes, she has everything even a plate. (A license plate?) No! A plate for lunch. (It’s a movie?) No, it’s a baseball team. She has a shirt and all kinds of things, she loves them. (Oh, the Green Bay Packers!) Yes! So if we pack our lunch we put our clip by that one—you know, ‘cause—packers… (Gotcha.)
Presidents Day
So, do you know why you’re off of school today?
Annika: Yeah, it’s Presidents Day
What is that?
Annika: I don’t know. We didn’t do an art project on it.
Hold the Salt
Annika asks me, “What does insulted mean?”
I explain that an insult is something that you don’t think is nice. So if you feel insulted, you feel like someone said something mean to you.
She thinks a minute then says, “Then what does unsalted mean?”
Each Other
Annika: We love uchother.
Me: Each other.
Annika: What?
Me: It’s two words. Each. Other.
Annika: What does that mean?
Me: If you say “we love each other” it means each one loves the other person.
Annika: But what does it mean?
Me: It means uchother.
Annika: Ohhhh!
Chopsticks
In the olden days they used chopsticks because they didn’t have forks or knives or spoons. So they got wood and carved it down for chopsticks. And, they also used them to catch flies.
And in parades, they’d have clowns. And one guys was holding into these wooden things and they had sticks coming out for him to stand on and it would look like he was really tall.
